About Edit

Bere Alston is a railway station serving the village of Bere Alston, just over 1/4 mile away, on the Tamar Valley Line.

Bere Alston used to be a junction station, where the line to Callington (now Gunnislake), branched off from the ex London and South Western Railway line to Exeter via Tavistock. When the LSWR line closed, the truncated line between St Budeaux Victoria Road and Gunnislake survived. It is now necessary for the train to reverse at Bere Alston in both directions to continue its journey; the token for the single line that was collected at St Budeaux being used to unlock and change the points.
