About[]
Eggesford is a railway station on the Tarka Line, serving the county parish of Eggesford.
Eggesford was built with permission of the landowner, the Earl of Portsmouth. It was said that permission was only given on the proviso that all trains stopped there.
Today, all trains do still stop at Eggesford, but now because this is the only passing place on the single line branch since Crediton.
Layout[]
Eggesford has 2 platforms sandwiched between the A377 and the River Taw. Access to Platform 2 (towards Exeter) is from a small layby on the A377. Platform 1 (towards Barnstaple) is across the level crossing and via a footpath. Passengers should leave plenty of time if crossing the line.
Facilities[]
There is a waiting shelter on both platforms.
There are no ticket purchasing facilities; passengers must buy on the train, at their destination or interchange station.

If the train is longer than 2 coaches, passengers can only board or alight through one door towards the front of the train. Please ensure any prams or buggies are folded.
